World steel production in 2019 amounted to 1.87 billion tonnes, which was 3.4% more than in 2018. China’s share of global crude steel production increased from 50.9% in 2018 to 53.3% in 2019. China’s crude steel production in 2018 was at 920 million tonnes (Mt) and 996.3 million tonnes in 2019.
